An Industrial Chic Wedding in Portland’s Old Port. This was Courtenay and Ryan’s dream and I am so thrilled to have been there to capture it all as it became reality. What an amazing adventure of a day and it all started at the Marriott in Portland’s Old Port district where the entire wedding party was staying in eager anticipation for the day ahead. Let’s just say with 7 bridesmaids and 12 groomsmen the place was rock’in with blow dryers going , drinks a flowing and even a dog hanging out with the guys. Soon Courtenay was in her dress which was absolutely stunning and as though she stepped out of a fairytale. Her fairytale day was just beginning.

The venue for the ceremony and reception was at the industrial complex at 58 Fore Street. It was picture perfect and a natural fit for her industrial chic themed day. A Family Affair did an amazing job infusing a modern elegance into the old industrial space with two cocktail bars situated into the corners, white leather couches making up the lounge area, huge dance floor and place settings for 180 guests. The entire room was light with vintage incandescent bulbs strung from end to end and accentuated with bottom light wall lights making the entire room glow with pops of color surrounding the room. Painted glass bottles and custom table settings adorned the tables as they were arranged perfectly around the couples table in then center of the room. Simply put, the room was amazing and the atmosphere from the lighting only got better and better as the day turned to night.

Courtenay and Ryan’s first look was in the “Industrial Room” which was oozing with character and a perfect open space for a private reveal. Ryan waited, back turned and centered in the room as Courtenay entered. The whole sequence was touching, dramatic and beautiful – shot entirely on my 35mm at f2. This was followed by a short couples session in the room and then the entire wedding party. Thankfully there was plenty of space to work with!

The ceremony took place in the “Room with a View” which has a more finished look with gleaming wood floors and window galore showcasing views of Portland’s harbor. A Family Affair did another amazing job creating a custom ceremony site with silk drapes elegantly arranged from floor to ceiling and accented by a lovely antique chandelier. It was just about sunset when Courtenay and Ryan were married as the room had an unforgettable glow to it. The soft glow of the winter sun warmed the room as they exchanged vows, rings and then became united as one.

It was almost as if Any and Jon specifically placed an order for snow from Mother Nature herself to complement their wonderful winter wedding. Well she really delivered with about 8 inches of the white fluffy stuff laying the perfect backdrop for Amy and Jon’s day. It was a gorgeous site with Christmas decorations and twinkling lights adorning the Hilton Garden Inn in Freeport. I know it was going to be one special day. Here are some favorites from their day:

Monhegan Island is everything I love about Maine. Being about 8 miles off the coast from Boothbay Harbor, it’s not that easy to get to and part of it’s appeal. It’s authentic, relaxed, and incredibly beautiful and when you step off the boat and touch land you know something is just different there.

As a Maine wedding photographer I couldn’t be more thrilled to be invited to photograph Amanda and Obie’s wedding. Obie is a Lobsterman and this was his special place. They were married on the hill side by the Cabot House overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and then the party started at the Monhegan House all night long. Amanda, Obie and their family and friends rocked that island like no other couple could. Here’s their story in pictures.
